Park Zdrojowy im. Henryka Wieniawskiego

Good for: everyone — this is the heart of the spa town

A historic park from the early 19th century, its main avenue lined with exotic trees, a monument to Wieniawski and a daily fanfare from Wieża Anny (12:00 and 20:00). You'll also find Pijalnia Wód and cafés here.

Wzgórze Giedymina i Wieża Anny

Good for: walkers, photographers, anyone who loves a good viewpoint

A neo-Gothic viewing tower from 1818 — the oldest surviving structure in the spa town. The forest path up the hill takes about 50–60 minutes one way. From the terrace you can see the whole of Szczawno and the Wałbrzych Mountains.

Hours / prices: The tower is open in season (May–October) 10:00–18:00. Out of season the hill and the view remain accessible.

Chełmiec (851 m n.p.m.)

Good for: walkers and light trekking, practically "just over the fence"

The nearest mountain — you can set off straight from the house on the blue trail that starts near Pijalnia Wód. The climb takes 2–3 hours at a relaxed pace. At the top there's a cross and a wide panorama over Szczawno, Wałbrzych and the mountain ranges beyond.

Hours / prices: Free entry, open all year. The viewing tower at the top (now a TV relay mast) is sometimes open at weekends 10:00–17:00 in summer season — worth confirming on site.

Trójgarb — wieża widokowa i Leśny Ogród

Good for: families and lovers of views

A distinctive peak with a new viewing tower and a forest trail, starting in Witków or Stare Bogaczowice. At the foot of the hill there's a nature-education zone with a mini garden — kids can run around while adults sip coffee from a flask before the climb.

Hours / prices: The tower is open daily 9:00–19:00 in summer, shorter hours in winter, free entry. Parking in Witków. The round trip takes 2–3 hours.

A steep but short route from the Glinik district of Wałbrzych. At the top, a metal tower with a wide view over the mountains and the city.

Good for: the more ambitious, a full-day trip

The highest peak of the Owl Mountains, with a stone tower from 1906 and a mountain hut at the summit. The panorama stretches all the way to the Karkonosze. The most scenic trail starts from Przełęcz Walimska.

Hours / prices: Tower open daily 9:00–17:00, tickets are token-priced, mountain hut open until 19:00.

Jeziorko Daisy

Good for: a walk, photos, a romantic outing

A former quarry filled with turquoise water, named after Princess Daisy of Zamek Książ. A peaceful, photogenic spot in the forests of Książański Park Krajobrazowy.

Hours / prices: Free entry, no facilities — worth bringing water and comfortable shoes.

A vast area around Zamek Książ full of paths and viewpoints. You can do a loop from Palmiarnia past the viewpoint over the Pełcznica gorge — silence, ferns and the odd roe deer.

Hours / prices: Free entry, open all year. Parking at Palmiarnia is paid.

A scenic mountain reservoir with a stone dam and bridge. You can hire a pedal boat or simply walk around the lake; a handful of cafés and fish shacks nearby.

Hours / prices: Water-sports rental open May to September, 10:00–18:00.

A short but picturesque trail through beech forest to a viewpoint with the ruins of an old chapel. In spring the forest floor is carpeted with anemones.

Good for: a short, steep trek rewarded with cake

The highest peak of the Kamienne Mountains (936 m). The red trail from Rybnica Leśna is steep but short. Just below the summit, the Andrzejówka mountain hut is famous for its homemade cake.

Ruiny zamku Rogowiec

Good for: a solitary walk, photos, ruins lovers who want to skip the crowds

Poland's highest-sited castle ruins, hidden in forest atop a mountain in the Suche Mountains. The climb takes about 40 minutes and is well worth it — at the top, silence, wind and mountain views.
